The importance of Virgil Abloh for the future of Louis Vuitton

Yesterday, we could say that most streetwear lovers only had one topic on the tip of their tongues: “Virgil Abloh has joined Louis Vuitton.”
That guy, a collector of graphic tees who started his brand Pyrex by printing on Champion shirts, was yesterday named the new designer for the men's line of the acclaimed LV.
Virgil Abloh is currently responsible for Off-White, has a background in architecture, is a DJ, and is one of Kanye West's right-hand men. Joining a Maison was what his resume was missing, which has always been his great dream.
A veteran when it comes to being applauded for his work, Abloh has significant experience in the fashion universe, but the question is: what is Louis Vuitton expecting from him?
He will be the first guy of this new era to enter a Maison and the first Black person to hold such a high position in the brand. We cannot deny that we can expect great milestones from this union, and perhaps even collaborations of the label with smaller brands. If Virgil maintains his aesthetic line, for example, we can expect many, many graphics, which are his true passion.
Abloh, in bringing Off-White to LVMH, compared streetwear to high-end by saying that “Supreme is my LV.” And that is exactly what this new phase is about: making Louis Vuitton a desirable item, not just for the adult audience that is already a consumer, but also for the young streetwear fans and lovers of haute couture.
The first show of the collection developed by Virgil for LV will take place in June in Paris, and we are already very curious about the upcoming chapters of this new journey that has much to promise.
