Nike and Virgil Abloh – a successful creative director, DJ, designer, and founder of the OFF-WHITE™ brand – have finally announced all the details about their collaborative capsule collection, titled The Ten. The collection, which features 10 silhouettes from Nike, Jordan, and Converse, was made in just 10 months, and as such, it was considered the fastest and most ambitious collaboration ever produced by the Swoosh brand.

Virgil has had a relationship with Nike since he was young, and he recounts that as a teenager, he and his friends, who were passionate about Air Jordans, sketched shoe ideas and sent them to Nike. According to Abloh, "Michael Jordan was larger than life – he was Superman to me. All my design repertoire and references came from the 90s".
On his first visit to the brand's worldwide headquarters in October 2016, the designer rebuilt a triple-black Air Force 1 using only an X-ACTO knife and some markers.

Following this reconstruction approach, ten Nike silhouettes were chosen for the The Ten collection. "What we're doing here is bigger than sneakers, it’s bigger than the design culture," says Abloh. "It's nothing more than next-level design. These ten sneakers have broken barriers in performance and style. For me, they're on the same level as a sculpture of David or the Mona Lisa. You can question whatever you want, but they mean something, and that's what matters".
The ten sneakers are divided by two themes: Revealing and Ghosting. The first, Revealing, was designed to have a more accessible look, where the models are hand-cut, open-source, and reconstructed. It includes the silhouettes of Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air Presto, Nike Air VaporMax, and Nike Blazer Mid.

Meanwhile, the second, Ghosting, was designed with translucent uppers, to promote the idea of revealing and uniting the second set of silhouettes by using the same material. It features the models Converse Chuck Taylor, Nike Zoom Fly SP, Nike Air Force 1 Low, Nike React Hyperdunk 2017, and Nike Air Max 97.

In September, Nike will host the events of "Nike Off Campus" in New York (from the 6th to the 8th) and London (from the 14th to the 17th), to celebrate and present the collection The Ten.
The first five icons of the collection – which has the theme Revealing – will be pre-released in NikeLab physical stores in New York (from September 9 to 13), London (from September 18 to 22), Milan (from September 21 to 25), and Paris (from September 26 to 30).
The complete collection, including the ten silhouettes, will be available globally in November, at NikeLab stores and select retailers. There is still no information regarding sales in Brazil, so stay tuned to NOTTHESAMO for more information.
