Daniel Day, better known as Dapper Dan, is an American designer who gained worldwide notoriety for being considered the creator of Harlem's Street Style. Dapper Dan's designs were highly sought after in New York, especially in the 212 area code, which encompasses Harlem.
The short film also features A$AP Rocky, another icon of Harlem. In the video, Dapper Dan narrates his journey of rise and fall in the fashion world, along with the creation of Street Style.
The five-minute video is part of a project by AT&T, an American telecommunications company, which seeks to honor Harlem and the influence of the 212 area code.
During the short film, the designer tells how his interest in fashion arose, how his designs became desirable after the first years of selling, and what it was like to have his studio raided and shut down by the police.
