Guadalupe 13 years: Celebrating the Bom Retiro neighborhood
Starting the 13th anniversary celebrations, GDLP joined designer and artist @ziquelique to illustrate iconic facades of Bom Retiro - the neighborhood where the store was established and built a community around sneaker and streetwear culture. Zique is also trained in architecture and set out to study the urban landscape of the neighborhood - he chose three building facades to illustrate in ink: Guadalupe and the restaurants Acrópolis and Shoshana.
Shoshana
Founded in 1991, Shoshana - which is practically a cultural heritage of the city and has had several names - was envisioned by Adi and Shoshana Baruch. After nearly closing permanently in 2020, the restaurant was bought and restructured so that the last classic of Jewish cuisine in the neighborhood would not cease operations altogether. The current menu retains some of Shoshana's classic dishes, such as beef tongue and the founder's famous milk pudding, but also brings innovations, in a menu defined as "diaspora Jewish cuisine."
Acrópolis
Founded in 1959, Acrópolis is the oldest and most traditional Greek restaurant in São Paulo. The establishment, located in the Bom Retiro neighborhood, gained prestige after Thrassyvoulos Georgios Petrakis - who started as a waiter - bought the restaurant in the 70s and transformed it into an icon of Mediterranean cuisine. Today, the business is run by his daughters, who maintained the unique service system established by their father, where customers go to a kind of showcase in front of the kitchen to choose dishes live.
The G DLP x Zique Girão t-shirts in homage to the restaurants will be distributed by the restaurants to customers, friends, and family and will not be for sale. The t-shirt that illustrates the facade of G DLP | Bom Retiro is already available for purchase exclusively at the physical store located at Rua Três Rios, 126.
