sickhead co.® presents NOTTHESAMO
In our first collaboration, we explored the personality of the artist whose work inspired the creation and concept behind NOTTHESAMO. Bringing a deconstructed aesthetic of Jean-Michel Basquiat, the collection implicitly applies the baggage contained in the brand sickhead co.®, referencing moments of delirium and absurdity, freeing itself from any parameters already visited before and providing a unique experience that carries a mix of history and ideology.
The collection pays homage to the moment when Basquiat killed his own art by tagging "SAMO is Dead" on a wall in SoHo, following the exaggerated popularization of his work, burying the term that characterized him. The line also explores four of a series of 28 portraits made in 1979 by Nicholas Taylor, later exhibited in an exhibition titled An Intimate Portrait. The selected photographs compose a perspective that narrates the manifesto of art through expressions and gestures that captured the foundations of Jean-Michel's work.
The collection presents three items: a sweatshirt, a t-shirt, and a pack of stickers. The sweatshirt features the slogan "This is Not the Same Old Shit" embroidered on the front, along with three photographs positioned at different levels on the back and the name sickhead printed on the sleeves. The "Suicide" t-shirt carries the phrase "SAMO is Dead" along with a portrait on the front and the italicized S logo printed on the back of the piece, and, in turn, the pack consists of 5 varied models of stickers inspired by the theme of the collaboration.
The products will go on sale today (25.08), starting at 8:30 PM in the online store of sickhead co.
