A Vans is launching its 2017 campaign “This Is Off The Wall”. The idea is to translate the meanings of the slogan used by the Californian brand for almost 50 years, in a way that highlights its representativeness in youth culture and its values based on creativity, and concern for the individuality and originality of its followers.
The various meanings of “Off The Wall”, the brand's main slogan, are represented through stories from the brand's ambassador family,  who support everything in the celebration of creative expression through sports, art, music, and fashion.
To demonstrate the breadth of activities that define “Off The Wall”, Vans developed a digital campaign with a variety of cinematic techniques, from slow motion to time-lapse, focusing on the creative efforts that it strongly advocates and brings together a select team of ambassadors who embody the values the brand was founded on.
The campaign This Is Off The Wall is represented by professional Vans athletes, artists, musicians, and fashionistas  who have long and personal stories with the brand. Their experiences are told through a variety of tones that lead to the passions that Vans has always supported. The visual nature and the emotions evoked in each story are easily translatable anywhere on the planet and show that creative expression is inclusive and without borders.
“Off The Wall” was a term created in the mid-70s when skateboarders were practicing new tricks in empty pools and skating off the wall, literally. At that time, the sport was marginalized by society, and athletes saw skateboarding as a form of social expression. These people were not just the pioneers of skateboarding; they lived and breathed creativity through street art, music, fashion, and local culture. For over 50 years, the slogan has been synonymous with that spirit of rebellion and creative expression.
