VIHE bets on sustainable fashion

For many years, the fashion industry was responsible for high levels of pollution and social disasters caused in underdeveloped countries, where illegal factories and slave labor operated without oversight.

In recent years, several brands, whether new or not, have adopted a more socially and environmentally responsible stance. The damage is inevitable, but the search to reduce and repair it has grown and awakened a new consciousness of consumption and production.

Despite all the problems caused by governmental decisions, sustainability is an increasingly debated topic in Brazil. One of the most polluting processes in the fashion industry is the production of jeans. To manufacture a single piece, about 10,000 liters of water are consumed.


The idea of creating and making products that are more socially and environmentally responsible is one of the mottos of VIHE. The new brand from São Paulo is based on collaborative principles and joins companies that have sustainability as part of their ideology.

"As we consume more durable and timeless products, we don't need to consume as much. We're not just talking about fashion, but about conscious consumption."

The main challenge of the first collection was to work with jeans. Resulting from a partnership with the company Vicunha, the pants and jackets of VIHE were made using recycled fabrics or eco-friendly fibers, with dyeing processes aimed at water economy.

The finishes, in turn, come from a partnership established with the company Eberle, known for its commitment to reducing environmental impacts.

In terms of design, the products were thought out to be timeless and durable. In addition to the denim pieces, the collection includes t-shirts and sweatshirts made from raw cotton knitting, aiming at water economy and avoiding the release of toxic waste into nature.

The viscose shirt, also coming from the partnership with Vicunha, had its fiber produced from reforested wood. The buttons of the piece are made from recycled fruit seeds, brought directly from Portugal by EcoBotões.

The launch of VIHE takes place on Saturday, September 21, at Cartel 011. The event will feature a pop-up conceived in partnership with Somma Design, which, in addition to signing an exclusive line of furniture made from the same fabrics as the collection, also signs the VM of the store.
