March 8th, a date that has been an important milestone in the fight for gender equality and the recognition of women's contributions to society. It is an opportunity to celebrate their achievements and reflect on the challenges that still exist.

Celebrating Women's Day, we have selected 10 inspiring Brazilian women you should know.

Suyane Ynaya

Suyane is a fashion editor at Elle Brasil, creative director, stylist, mother, born and raised in the East Zone of São Paulo, and alternates her love for fashion with new discoveries, such as venturing into photography, DJing, and the idealization of worldwide domination projects, like the MOOC, a collective created in 2016 with seven friends that highlights the perspective of young Black individuals in advertising. For a time, she worked as a babysitter, waitress, and saleswoman until her first contact with the life of a stylist, and since then she has developed her creative side with wisdom and responsibility.

Nicole Balestro

Entrepreneur, producer, graduated in Public Relations and mother, Nicole strengthened her professional market through hip hop, a movement she has always been devoted to, acting as manager and executive producer for major names in the scene like Djonga, Clara Lima, Tasha and Tracie, Kyan, and more. Today, she writes a new chapter in her story with her new career project, "Pagode da Negrole," which is heading into its 6th edition of great success and reaffirmation in her journey through samba and pagode.

Paula Kim 

Designer, from São Paulo, co-founder of Lapô, responsible for design and creative processes at p___andrade and PIET, brands she leads alongside her husband, also takes care of M.I.L, a creative lab. Graduated in fashion from Central Saint Martins in London, Paula has always developed her projects with a focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility, basing her work on social debates regarding conscious consumption and research on other raw materials for the development of her products.

Luedji Luna

Born in Salvador, Luedji Gomes Santa Rita, better known as Luedji Luna, is a singer and songwriter. Luedji began composing her songs at the age of 17 and was already singing informally in bars in her hometown. In 2007, she was accepted into the law course at the State University of Bahia. Despite this, she chose not to pursue the profession to dedicate herself exclusively to music. Her songs mainly portray the empowerment of Black women and the worship of Afro-Brazilian religions, as well as representing Afro-Brazilian culture through fashion.

A La Robertita 

Historian, content producer for the internet, originally from Jandira in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, the 27-year-old has become a reference for thousands of women, bringing possibilities and representation in a hostile market marked by the invisibility of plus-size and Black women. Today, after already having worked with major brands like Givenchy and Chloé, she signed an exclusive collection with C&A, representing a bit of everything she believes in fashion and life.

Luisa Dörr

Photographer. She stands out for creating portraits in her authorial projects and commissioned works. Although she does not restrict her themes, she is recognized for focusing on female figures, presenting women in their environments, with their personal stories and spatial contexts. Luisa Dörr's work uses life as raw material, especially that of women, with their unique journeys and profound aspirations.

Majur

Majur dos Santos Conceição, a trans woman, singer, and Brazilian songwriter, has her musical works developed within the genres of R&B and MPB, addressing themes such as emotional relationships, empowerment, spiritual recovery, and ancestry. She began singing at the age of 5 in the chorus of the Symphony Orchestra of Youth in Salvador, and in 2008, reached the finals of the Annual Student Song Festival, promoted by the Ministry of Education.

Eliane Dias 

Mother, entrepreneur, CEO, executive producer, and lawyer, she has determination as her personal brand. Just as she wanted to be a lawyer, she also took charge of the career of Racionais MCs, the largest rap group in the history of Brazilian music. Today, she runs the production company Boggie Naipe, which develops artistic and cultural projects, in addition to managing the careers of major artists such as Duquesa, Yunk Vino, Racionais, Victoria Cerrid, and Danzo.

Erica Malunguinho

Erica Malunguinho da Silva is an educator, visual artist, and Brazilian politician. In 2018, she was elected state deputy for São Paulo, becoming the first transgender woman in the São Paulo Legislative Assembly. Erica holds a master's degree in Aesthetics and History of Art from the University of São Paulo (USP) and is the creator of Aparelha Luzia, a space to foster artistic and intellectual productions in the capital of São Paulo.
