 ASICS is bringing back a model from the early millennium and one of its boldest silhouettes, the GEL-1090

First launched in 2004, the GEL-1090 quickly became a favorite among runners due to its design and comfort. For 2020, the revamped silhouette in the casual version recalls the bold aesthetic typical of early 2000s running shoes, combined with ASICS' innovative technology

With the desire to create a model that is simple yet attractive, the ASICS design team behind the GEL-1090 sought an unusual source of inspiration: motorsport. Inspired by the high-energy nature and extreme speeds of this type of sport, the GEL-1090 was created for fearless runners who run for the thrill and challenge, returning this year as a sportstyle silhouette for everyday wear.

With decades of Japanese experience and innovation, the GEL-1090 features innovative GEL technology under the heel and forefoot, as well as a durable rubber outsole with flexible grooves for greater stability and traction. The aerodynamic upper recalls the shape of racing cars, with leather overlays set against a lightweight mesh base, aiming to reduce the overall weight of the shoe. With its millennium appearance, clean design, and technical construction, the GEL-1090 is a timeless style that is as relevant now as it was in 2004.
