KUON Presents Collection Made in Boro
In its first collection, the brand KUON, by designer Shinichiro Ishibashi, explores a classic method of patching and brings out tradition and contemporary style.
Using boro - a technique that emerged in Japan in the mid-17th century, which repurposes different fabrics, subsequently dyed in indigo and patched together to form a piece of clothing, blanket, rug, etc. - the collection features patchwork in pieces like blazers, sweaters, shirts, t-shirts, shorts, bags, and caps.
Promoting the idea of recycling fabrics, the brand lives up to its name KUON - which means "eternity" - reinventing ways to use Japanese fabrics that are between 50 to 150 years old.
KUON will have retailers in Tokyo, Osaka, and Hong Kong starting next year.
