Monkey Star announces new collection, 'Get Up, Stand Up!'

The brand, present in the Brazilian scene since 2020, presents a new collection, based on the ambiance of reggae culture from the early 70s.

Originating in Brasília and founded by designer Bernardo Vieira and musician Pedro Alex, the brand is dedicated to cultural anthropological research, traversing various ideals and references that shape and inspire the artistic expressions within the brand to develop each project.

The collection GUSU (Get Up, Stand Up!) aims to reclaim the Jamaican influences and roots from the beginning of the reggae culture explosion in the world. The pieces reflect a certain nostalgia mixed with the Zeitgeist, uniting references from that era's culture with new fashion concepts.

The concept of ‘GUSU’ reflects movement and action, also aligning with an idea of unity, a theme much addressed in the culture and songs of this movement.

The highlight of this release is the floral denim set, which synthesizes the entire idea of the collection, bringing the concept of movement and action from the design present on the back, mixed with the lightness of the floral print and the meticulous details, all developed by designer and co-founder of Monkey Star, Bernardo Vieira.

The brand also promises a special product for digital platforms and YouTube, led by musician, producer, and also co-founder of the brand, Pedro Alex. The launch is scheduled for the 10th of this month, on the brand's e-commerce site.
