Cajá showcases its new collection at the Casa de Criadores
Last Tuesday, the Brazilian Cajá held its second fashion show at the 44th Casa de Criadores, showcasing its new collection, titled ‘Imperfect Futures’.
Seeking to weave new narratives and connect the past, present, and future, Cajá develops new research on time. The future is present in this pursuit, interlinking issues of gender identity, sexuality, and female empowerment at a moment in time and space where freedom is granted to women.
The pieces discuss the power and plurality of femininity, bringing reflections on strength, spirituality, and beauty about the bodies of these women.
In the show, we could see a mix of natural fabrics that represent the brand's return to important values, such as handmade and collaborative work. This formula combines with the technology of synthetic fabrics like polyamide and artificial colors like neon. Textures that are sometimes raw, sometimes shiny create this temporal connection in a color palette that starts with white, moving through intense colors like green and tomato, reaching the brightness of lilac, green, and pink.
As is characteristic of the brand, the collaborative spirit was present at the fashion show. The pieces and accessories in macramé and embroidery feature partnerships with Macrami and Giu Conture. Surreal São Paulo also appears in the looks with socks from their latest collection. In footwear, the customized models from Nike return, and this time Rider is also seen on the models' feet.
Gabriela Cajado, designer of Cajá, mentions that “Cajá functions as a collaborative platform, bringing all the plurality of people who contribute to a mix of desires and ideas.”
