Between fashion and music, Mateca and Franco, The Sir! present "Chic Side"
The connection between artists Mateca and Franco happened naturally, as if they had been friends for a long time. And it was through this meeting of ideas and styles that ‘Lado Chic’ was born — a musical track that not only highlights confidence and sophistication, but also seeks to redefine the meaning of ostentation within the universe of trap.

For them, being chic goes beyond material possessions, it's about writing your own rules, crafting your own identity, and expressing yourself authentically. Even during moments of transition, Franco remained focused on the message and used this moment as fuel for creativity, while Mateca continued to consolidate his artistic identity, balancing fashion and music as extensions of the same vision.
The intense exchange between the duo keeps the focus on the track for the redefinition of ostentation in trap and the track ‘Lado Chic’ is not just a musical collaboration, but a reflection of the journey of two artists who understand that true luxury lies in the freedom to be who they are. We spoke a little with the duo about the new release, check it out below:
Lado Chic arose from a spontaneous meeting in the studio. How was this synergy between you right from the start?
Since I met Franco and got to know him personally, I often say how much I see myself in him. Our synergy flowed to the point that it felt like we had been friends for years and as if we made music together frequently—we have a lot in common.

The song celebrates self-confidence and elegance as affirmation. How do each of you interpret this concept in your own life and career?
I see self-confidence as essential for facing challenges and making decisions, while elegance goes beyond appearance, reflecting how I behave and treat others. In my life and career, this balance helps build solid relationships and achieve my goals authentically.

Franco, you recently exploded onto the scene and also moved to São Paulo. How has this change influenced your music and creative process?
The main influence São Paulo has on me is the speed at which things happen; everything is very immediate, with many good opportunities. This has made me quicker and at the same time more dedicated, due to the city's demands.

Trap has always had ostentation as one of its pillars, but you bring a more subjective perspective to it. How do you see this redefinition within the genre?
I see the redefinition of trap as a way to show that ostentation goes beyond material goods, focusing on self-improvement, confidence, and identity. It’s about valuing who we are and what we achieve internally, bringing a more real approach that connects with culture.

Mateca, in Lado Chic, you emphasize that true elegance lies in writing your own rules. What was the moment you realized that this artistic and aesthetic freedom was essential to your identity?
When I began to free myself from external expectations and focus on what I really wanted to express. At first, I found myself trying to fit into the formulas of what was "right" or "acceptable", but over time, I understood that true authenticity comes from being true to oneself and creating without fear of breaking rules. This moment was crucial for me to realize that true elegance is in the freedom to be who you are, without needing to conform to standards that are not yours.

Apart from the collaboration in Lado Chic, was there any exchange of learning between you during this process? Any new insight one brought to the other?
It was a mutual learning exchange. I brought my vision of style and authenticity, while I learned to experiment more and explore the new without fear of making mistakes. This exchange enriched the creative process and brought a renewed energy to the project and to us.

Franco, being one of the new voices of the national trap, what are the challenges and opportunities you have encountered at this moment in your career?
At this moment I have been talking with several publishers and distributors, but the main opportunity is the contact with the artists I admire. The biggest challenge is probably time; things happen very quickly, so sometimes the rush gets in the way.

Mateca, your relationship with fashion has always been an extension of your art. What role does fashion play in the evolution of your journey?
Fashion is an extension of my art, allowing me to express my identity and worldview visually. It plays a crucial role in my evolution, helping me communicate my emotions and connect with the audience, both in music and in my personality. It is part of my creative process and helps solidify who I am, inside and outside of music.

Beyond fashion and visuals, what defines the “chic side” of each of you?
The "chic side" of each of us goes beyond appearance; it is related to our attitude, authenticity, and how we relate to the world. It’s about having confidence, being true to oneself, and knowing that elegance is not just in what you wear, but in the way you live, express yourself, and handle situations. It is a stance that reflects who we truly are, without worrying about imposed standards.
