As part of the proposal to use sports and movement as catalysts for female empowerment, Nike released a film starring singer Ludmilla and the Black Tourmalines – a project by Black dance artists aimed at strengthening and uplifting the community. The content, available on the NTC (Nike Training Club) app, includes original melody and choreography, in which dance is used to celebrate Black women and encourage new generations to explore different forms of sports and movement.

I am taking ownership of who I am. I am a powerful Black woman who uses music and dance to connect with myself, but mainly, with my community. We are stronger together. This is something I am elevating more and more in my life,” comments singer Ludmilla on the personal connection of the campaign to her current moment in life.

The choreography featured in the film, directed by Juh Almeida with an original melody by Larissa Luz, is divided into six moments: birth, connection, roots, protection, recognition, and awakening. The sequence is a timeline that shows how movements connect with ancestry and culture, encompassing rhythms such as break, hip hop, and funk. Dance is presented as a tool for connecting with one's own history and identity.

In order to empower and strengthen Black artists to believe they can achieve anything they want, Black Tourmalines is a community of 32 pioneering women who inspire the next generation and foster positive changes.

“We believe that every Black woman is a tourmaline; we just need to realize that. It’s not easy to find our power and it doesn’t happen overnight, but projects like ours are instruments of change and empowerment. The Black Tourmalines project is also about connecting with ancestral knowledge, being representative, and amplifying the voices of Black women.”
comments Aline Constantino, the project's creator.

In addition to the film, by accessing the NTC (Nike Training Club), Nike members will have access to exclusive content that explains the steps of the choreography and introduces the artists in the form of short videos, so that everyone can replicate the movements and thus connect with the transformative power of dance.
