P. Andrade reveals his first release "Hidden Brazil"
P. Andrade is a Brazilian menswear label run by the couple Pedro Andrade and Paula Kim. After more than 10 years in the fashion industry, Paula and Pedro decided to start a new project that speaks about culture, technology, innovation, sustainability, and Brazil. Paula has a degree in fashion from Central Sair Martins and has worked with brands like Burberry, Dior, Dianne Von Furstenberg, Tommy Hilfiger, Zara, and is currently the owner of a women's fashion brand called Lapô. Pedro, on the other hand, has been in charge of Piet for a decade, a brand that has been in the streetwear market since 2012.
As a designer, Pedro has collaborated with important brands such as Nike, Adidas, ASICS, New Balance, Fila, Converse, and NBA.
With the aim of talking about artists and Brazilian movements, the collection that celebrates the arrival of P. Andrade is inspired by great names in architecture, visual arts, and modern Brazilian design. This is how the designers decided to show Brazil from a new perspective. The debut of the P. Andrade brand fused references from Brazilian architecture with a study of weights, cuts, and meticulous prints.
The patterns of the puffer jackets were inspired by the designs of Oscar Niemeyer for the Palácio da Alvorada in Brasília. In contrast, the Brazilian flora was also a source of inspiration, finding the contrast between the lightness and the "raw" aspect of Brutalist architecture through the shapes and characteristics of local typical vegetation. The collection brings tailoring with technology and sports elements, such as suits and waterproof trench coats, highlighting the cuts, textures, and shapes. The color palette ranges through various shades of gray, culminating in green, subtly reflecting the junction between architecture and nature, referencing modern Brazilian furniture. It is minimal, in a sober way, and with a futuristic air.
